Christmas Wonder

Hi everyone

We are in the advanced stages of planning our Christmas activities and events. A key part of the theme is going to be who or what are you following? In the Christmas story Mary and Joseph follow government orders to Bethelehem, the shepherds follow the instructions of the angels and the wise men follow a star. We are after your ideas for what kinds of things people follow, what do you follow? And any following stories you have that we might use. Please comment on this blog to have your input into our Christmas services!

Thanks
Chris

Friday, 16 October 2009

From November 15th we are starting a new series called Toward Wonder. In Isaiah God says "Once more I will astound these people with wonder upon wonder." I am convinced that the secret to experiencing more of God in our lives is to be aware of what he is doing and to be open to him astounding us with wonder upon wonder. I can't wait to start this series.

We would love to hear your stories of how God has astounded you. It maybe an answered prayer, a healing, a story of how God was present with you in the storms of life, or when you were really aware of God or something he had done. They may be dramatic or quiet, big or small, we are keen to hear them all. Please post stories here and we may use them in the series.

Thanks
Chris

Remembrance Sunday Guest Event

Our Sunday morning services on 8th November are going to be guest events specially designed for Remembrance Sunday. Our theme is 'War...Does Anybody Win?' You can find out more about the event by clicking here. If you have suggestions for artistic content (e.g. film clips, songs, dramas) that we might use or comments on the theme or questions that you would like to see us answer in our talks, please comment on this blog.

Welcome

Welcome to my EBC blog. My name is Chris Porter and I am Senior Minister at the church. We are going to try something new with this blog and that is to start posting information about series that we have coming up on a Sunday morning. We would love it if you would then post ideas, thoughts, personal stories and any questions that you might like us to answer in that series or event. We may include some of these in our Sunday morning services and talks. This blog is not intended to turn into a debate on issues and to counter one anothers views. Rather we are looking for suggestions and input for our talks and events so that we can better address the issues we all face. Thanks for taking the time to participate.
